MOLACID® SOR is organic compound, commonly known as Sorbic Acid. It is a straight-chain carboxylic acid with the chemical formula C₆H₈O₂. It occurs as a white or almost white, crystalline powder. It is used as an antimicrobial preservative in pharmaceutical formulations to prevent the growth of molds, yeasts and fungi.

Application: MOLACID® SOR is used in the pharmaceutical industry as an antimicrobial preservative to inhibit the growth of molds, yeasts and fungi. It is incorporated into dosage forms such as oral solutions, syrups, suspensions, creams, lotions, gels and topical preparations. Its preservative activity is more effective in acidic formulations, where it inhibits microbial growth. It helps maintain the microbiological quality, stability, safety and shelf life of pharmaceutical products.
