Applications: MOLACID® SAL is used in the pharmaceutical industry mainly as a topical active ingredient and chemical intermediate. It is incorporated into various creams, ointments, gels, lotions, shampoos and medicated preparations. It acts as a keratolytic agent, helping remove dead and hardened skin cells. It is used in skin preparations to treat acne, psoriasis, dandruff, corns and other hyperkeratotic skin conditions. Salicylic acid is also an important chemical precursor/intermediate in the manufacture of acetylsalicylic acid (aspirin).
