It is as an excipient, solvent, and penetration enhancer in pharmaceutical formulations. As a penetration enhancer, it can improve the skin permeation of suitable APIs in topical and transdermal formulations.

As a penetration enhancer, it can improve the skin permeation of suitable APIs in topical and transdermal formulations. As a humectant, it helps retain moisture and maintain the desired consistency of pharmaceutical preparations.

2 Solubility It is miscible with dichloromethane,with chloroform,with ethanol (95%), with ether and with light petroleum(boiling point 40° to 60°);practiocally insoluble in water.
