3 Solubility It is soluble in water, insoluble in ether, and sparingly soluble in alcohol. It is strongly alkaline and its water solutions absorb carbon dioxide from the air.

5 Loss on Drying Not more than 1.0%.
6 Optical (Specific) Rotation Between +26.0° and +27.9°, calculated on the dried basis; or 25°: Between +25.8° and +27.7°, calculated on the dried basis.
