Applications: MOLACID® ERY is used in the pharmaceutical industry primarily as an antioxidant and stabilizing excipient to prevent the oxidative degradation of active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs) during storage. It acts by reacting with ambient or dissolved oxygen, lowering oxygen concentration inside drug packaging to protect sensitive compounds. It is commonly added to oral drops, syrups and liquid mixtures.

1 Description It occurs as white or slightly yellow crystals or powder.

3 Solubility It is reasonably stable in air, but in solution, it rapidly deteriorates in the presence of air. It melts between 164° and 171° with decomposition. one g is soluble in about 2.5 mL of water and in about 20 mL of alcohol. Slightly soluble in glycerin.
4 Residue of Ignition Not more than 0.3%.
5 Limit of Lead Not more than 10 ppm.
6 Optical Rotation Between −16.5° to −18.0°.
7 Loss on Drying Not more than 0.4%.
