Applications: MOLACID® ALG is widely used in pharmaceutical formulations for its gastroprotective and anti-reflux properties, forming a raft-like structure that prevents gastroesophageal reflux by creating a protective barrier. It also acts as a binding and disintegrating agent in tablets, where its swelling ability promotes drug release. In controlled-release and pH-dependent formulations, it supports targeted delivery to the intestine. It is applied in wound dressings and biomedical products for its gelling and biocompatible properties.

1 Description It occurs as white to yellowish white, fibrous powder. Is odorless, or practically odorless and is tasteless.

(B) (a) Analysis-1: A voluminous, gelatinous precipitate is formed.
(B) Analysis-2: A heavy, gelatinous precipitate is formed.
(C) The isopropyl ether extract exhibits a deeper purplish hue than that from a blank, similarly prepared.
3 Solubility It is soluble in alkaline solutions; insoluble in water and in organic solvents.
4 Arsenic Not more than 3 μg/g.
5 Lead Not more than 10 μg/g.
6 PH Between 1.5–3.5.
7 Loss on Drying Not more than 15.0%.
8 Total ash Not more than 4.0% of ash.
9 Acid Value Not less than 230 on the dried basis.

PACKAGING

MOLACID® ALG is packed in HDPE bag or HDPE drum with double PE liners inside and is provided with a barcoded label and a tamper-evident seal.

SHELF LIFE, STORAGE AND PACKING

The shelf life is 3 years. Preserve in well-closed containers.
